Iowan's Hotel
The Iowan's Hotel, now known as the Railroad Inn, is a small historic brick hotel in Essex, Iowa. Built in 1906 to replace the Lindel Hotel, it was designed in the Colonial Revival style by architect Denton Belt. The two-story building sits on a brick foundation with a half-basement, on a site a little under an acre. The main block is rectangular and has a hipped roof. Inside, five guest rooms are on the second floor. Over the years it has been called the Essex Hotel, Rose Hotel, Commercial Hotel, Bradley Hotel, Butler Hotel, Essex House, and Railroad Inn. Today it operates as a bed and breakfast. The Iowan's Hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
