International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad
The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H) is a deemed university in Hyderabad, India. It was founded in 1998 as the first IIIT under a public-private partnership, and became a deemed university in 2001. The campus sits on about 66 acres in urban Hyderabad.
IIIT-H has around 1,909 students, with about 1,350 undergraduates, 391 postgraduates, and 168 doctoral students, and a faculty of about 130. The primary language of instruction is English. The institute is known as IIITians, and its mascot is Jagruti – The Banyan Tree; its colors are Dark Cerulean.
Admissions
- Undergraduates: JEE Main, IIIT-H’s own UG Engineering Entrance Exam (UGEE) with an interview, plus other routes such as Olympiad-based selections (International Olympiad programs), Direct Admissions for Students Abroad (DASA), and lateral entry (LEEE) for dual-degree programs.
- Postgraduates: Through the Postgraduate Entrance Exam (PGEE) conducted by IIIT-H.
- MSIT program: Admissions based on a yearly entrance test.
History and rankings
- IIIT-H was originally named Indian Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad and was renamed in 2001 when it became a deemed university.
- Silver Jubilee celebrations were held in September 2023.
- Rankings: NIRF 2024 – 74th among universities in India and 47th among engineering institutes; Times Higher Education World Ranking places it in the 501–600 band.
