Interdominant
An interdominant is a temporary dominant chord that belongs to a key other than the home key of the music. It creates a moment of tension as the harmony points toward another tonic, usually appearing in the middle of a piece before returning to the home key. In simple terms, it signals a temporary shift to a different key before the music settles back.
