Ingrid Carlqvist
Ingrid Kristina Carlqvist (born 9 November 1960) is a Swedish author and former journalist. Some organizations describe her as far-right and say she has ties to white supremacist networks in Sweden and beyond. She has also been linked to Islamophobic circles in the past and later to antisemitic views; she has said she moved away from some earlier affiliations.
She was born in Stockholm and raised in Helsingborg. She studied journalism in Gothenburg. She was fired from the housing magazine Villaliv in 2009 and from Barometern in 2011; she says she was fired for blogging in defense of the Sweden Democrats’ youth wing.
In 2012 she founded Dispatch International with Lars Hedegaard, a Swedish-language news sheet that the Sweden Democrats used during their election campaign. The publication focused on what she felt mainstream media missed about immigration.
She worked for the Gatestone Institute from 2015 to 2016 but was dismissed after she expressed support for neo-Nazis. She had also written for the Gates of Vienna blog. Over time she has been tied to counter-jihad circles and later to white supremacist and antisemitic groups, including the Nordic Resistance Movement. Hope not Hate has described her as engaging in Holocaust denial. She has said she disassociated herself from the counter-jihad movement because of its Jewish funders, and in 2018 she stated she was a member of the Asatru Folk Assembly, a neo-pagan group.
In 2017 she appeared on Fox Business as an expert, though Fox did not disclose her far-right links. She has argued that Sweden reached a “critical mass” of immigrants. During Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, she expressed support for Russia and Vladimir Putin, praising his emphasis on family, church, and nation, and claiming that many Russians back his policies.
