Idris Haider (born 19 November 1964) is a Bangladeshi film director, producer, screenwriter and actor. He began his career in television and became famous for creating drama series. His first popular drama serial, “Syed Barir Bou,” aired on ATN Bangla. He also directed “Second Innings,” the drama in which actress Pori Moni made her debut. He chairs Wow Play TV, a record label.

His film projects include Nil Foring, which was expected to release in 2021 but was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He has announced another film titled Amar Shonar Bangla, Ami Tomay Valobashi.

Early life and background: Idris Haider was born into an aristocratic family in Nawabganj, Dhaka, to Yunus Haider and Jamila Khatun. He loved literature and poetry from a young age. In 1972, at age 9, he began acting on stage as a child artist after independence. In the 1980s, while in eighth grade, he became known as a drama director through the work Spain Bijoyee Musa. He also showed interest in singing, scouting and sports.

Career path: He built his reputation in Nawabganj Theater and later moved into film, making his debut in 1975 as an actor and assistant director, and serving as a chief assistant to several directors, including work in dubbing. In the 1990s, he moved to the United States to practice drama in theaters, staging more than 100 plays with the South Florida Bengali community to help preserve Bengali culture.
