Idle Sons were a Canadian rock band from Burlington, Ontario. They formed in 1994 with Mike Eastick, Sean Kelly, Jer Crosskill and Bruce Nicol, who was later replaced by Ryan Barkwell. The band initially performed as Slurpymundae, releasing two independent EPs and one full-length album.

After a 2001 cross-Canada tour with Finger Eleven, they made a three-song demo produced by Finger Eleven members James Black and Rick Jackett. They changed their name to Idle Sons and signed with manager Julian Gruhl of Coalition Entertainment.

Atlantic Records heard the demo and signed the band to a major label, sending them to Los Angeles to record their debut, Hell or High Water, with producer Gavin Mackillop. But due to a change in ownership at Atlantic, the album was returned to the band and they were dropped.

Undeterred, Idle Sons kept writing and touring. About four years later they signed with EMI Canada. They recorded Sixteen Seasons at The Farm studio in Vancouver with producer Garth Richardson, and the album was released on May 2, 2006. It included four songs from Hell or High Water, four reworked from that material, and four new songs. The first single, "Tell Me," reached the Top 20 on Canadian rock radio in July 2006.

In late 2006, Sean Kelly left the band to become a teacher; his last show was December 16, 2006 in London, Ontario. The band was nominated for a Canadian Radio Music Award and for a Juno Award for New Group of the Year in 2007, but announced their dissolution on March 9, 2007.
