Hunlock Creek is an unincorporated community in Hunlock Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It sits along the Susquehanna River and U.S. Route 11, about 3.2 miles west of Nanticoke. In 1940, a regional guide described Hunlock Creek as a place where houses sit in a mountain cleft, named for the coal-darkened stream that splits it into several sections. U.S. Route 11 follows the winding river through the valley, which sometimes widens to include farmland along the river’s flat area.
