Howell Gwyn Moore-Gwyn (1886–1956) was a Welsh first-class cricketer and a long-serving British Army officer. He played minor counties cricket for Glamorgan from 1903 to 1912 and later appeared in first-class matches for the British Army team and for a Punjab Governor’s XI in India.

Moore-Gwyn joined the Rifle Brigade after graduating from the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, in 1906. He served through World War I, earning the Military Cross in 1915 and the Distinguished Service Order in 1919, and was mentioned in dispatches in 1917. He rose through the ranks, becoming adjutant in 1913, captain in 1914, and serving as an acting major during the war.

In 1923 he played for the British Army in first-class cricket, scoring 58 in the Army’s first innings. He spent time on secondment with the Colonial Office from 1924 and was promoted to major that year, relinquishing his command in 1928. While in India he played a second first-class match for a Punjab Governor’s XI.

Moore-Gwyn was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1934 and, after returning to full service for World War II, reached the rank of colonel in 1940. He retired from active service in 1942 and died in Eastbourne, England, in 1956 at age 70.
