Hmawbi Saya Thein

Hmawbi Saya Thein (31 March 1862 – 1 January 1942) was a Burmese writer known for his articles on Burmese culture and history. Born in Hmawbi, British Burma, he traveled across the country gathering artifacts, manuscripts, traditions and oral histories. His research appeared in magazines during the colonial era, and many of his articles were later published as books. He died in Hmawbi, Burma, at the age of 79.
