Hinsdale Township High School District 86 is a public high school district in Hinsdale, Illinois, serving Hinsdale and Darien. It runs Hinsdale Central High School and Hinsdale South High School. The district serves about 4,000 students in grades 9–12 with a 14:1 student‑to‑teacher ratio.

History and schools
- The first class graduated in 1883.
- The district formed when the elementary and high school became separate districts.
- Originally there was only Hinsdale High School (later Hinsdale Township High School). A 1962 referendum created Hinsdale South High School in Darien.

Performance and demographics
- Graduation rate is about 91%.
- About 14% of students miss more than 10% of school days.
- In 2018, SAT averages were 590 in Math and 584 in ELA.
- In 2017, operating spending per student was about $20,397; instructional spending was about $12,849.
- More than 90% of teachers stay with the district each year.

Funding and programs
- The district once considered cutting activities like football, wrestling, swimming, cheerleading, and marching band to save money, but a $140 million bond referendum was approved, financed by higher property taxes. For a $500,000 home, this could mean about $283 more per year in property taxes.

Equity and attendance
- A 2021 district report card showed Hinsdale Central enrolls about twice as many students as Hinsdale South, leading to fewer course options for some students.
- Proposals to change attendance boundaries have met resistance from some residents.
