Higlet
Higlet is a small settlement in Garissa County, Kenya, about 42 kilometers northwest of Garissa town in the Tana River watershed. The community is mainly Somali-Kenyan clans who herd livestock and move seasonally along the Lagbogol and Tana rivers. Higlet has a primary school, Higlet DEB School, opened in 1998, and a solar-powered borehole. The area has an arid climate and Acacia-Commiphora bushland; frequent droughts have led to humanitarian aid in the past. Higlet is a local trading hub on the Garissa-Liboi livestock corridor, with weekly markets where about 300 shoats are traded.
