High adventure is a type of outdoor experience that focuses on challenging, active activities. It usually means long trips and exciting outdoor sports.
Common examples include backpacking, hiking, kayaking or canoeing. It can also include mountaineering, rock climbing, mountain biking, orienteering, hang gliding, paragliding, and hot air ballooning.
High adventure in Scouting
In Scouting, leaders may offer high-adventure programs beyond regular trips. These programs can include long canoe trips, multi-day hikes, and other challenging activities that test skills and teamwork.
