Hidden Springs State Forest is a 1,200-acre conservation area in Shelby County, Illinois, near Clarksburg. It was established in 1960 and is managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The area is a protected place where natural resources are used in a sustainable way.

In 2008, Illinois planned to close several state parks, including Hidden Springs, because of budget cuts. The plan was approved on November 30, 2008. After Governor Rod Blagojevich was impeached, Governor Pat Quinn reopened the closed state parks in February 2009. In March 2009, Quinn announced he aimed to reopen the state historic sites by June 30, 2009.
