Heegan FC
Heegan FC is a Somali football club based in Horseed, a district of Merca in southern Somalia. The club was founded in 1950 by descendants of Italian colonists in Merca and was known as Somali Police FC until 2013.
Ground and nickname
- Home stadium: Banadir Stadium, which has a capacity of about 20,000 spectators.
History and name
- The team began in the Port of Merca in 1950 during the United Nations mandate.
- In 2013 the club changed its name from Somali Police FC to Heegan FC.
Achievements
- Somalia League champions: 1967 and 2014–15 (2015).
- As of the 2024–25 season, Heegan FC finished in 2nd place in the Somalia League.
