Hachette Books
Hachette Books is a general‑interest book imprint based in New York City. It is part of the Perseus Books Group, which sits under Hachette Book Group, a division of Lagardère.
The imprint began in 1990 as Hyperion Books, created by Michael Eisner and Robert S. Miller and named after Hyperion Avenue, where the Walt Disney Studios once stood. It focused on new titles rather than building a large backlist, and later included Hyperion Books for Children and Disney Press.
In 2013, Hachette acquired Hyperion from Disney, taking over the adult trade list and about 25 forthcoming titles, while Hyperion’s Disney–ABC properties and young‑adult titles moved to Disney Publishing Worldwide. In 2014, Hyperion was renamed Hachette Books, with Mauro DiPreta named vice president and publisher.
The Weinstein Books imprint was folded into Hachette Books in 2017 after the Harvey Weinstein allegations. In 2018, Hachette Books became an imprint of Perseus Books Group, with Da Capo Press and Lifelong joining. In 2019, Mary Ann Naples was hired as vice president and publisher of Hachette Books.
