HNoMS Trondheim (F302)
HNoMS Trondheim (F302) was an Oslo-class frigate of the Royal Norwegian Navy. Ordered in 1960, she was launched on 4 September 1964 and commissioned on 2 June 1966. She was decommissioned in June 2006 and remained out of service until September 2025.
In 2006, Trondheim ran aground off Lines Island in Sør-Trøndelag at 20:10 CET, but no one was injured and she was refloated by 20:30. Water briefly flooded two compartments, which were sealed, and the ship was towed to Bergen for inspection.
After decommissioning, Trondheim was used as a target ship. She was hit in 2013 during testing of Norway’s Naval Strike Missile. In September 2025, during Exercise Ægir 25, she was used again as a target and was sunk by missiles from HMS Somerset and HNoMS Thor Heyerdahl, with a torpedo fired from the Ula-class submarine HNoMS Uthaug in Andfjorden.
