Großer Stern
Großer Stern is the central square of the Großer Tiergarten park in Berlin. In its middle stands the Berlin Victory Column. The square is crossed by the Straße des 17. Juni about halfway across. The other streets meeting here are Spreeweg, Altonaer Straße and Hofjägerallee. The area dates back to around 1698. The square is known for the Bismarck Memorial, the Moltke statue and the Roon statue, as well as the Victory Column. In 2018, Greenpeace activists poured about 3500 liters of yellow paint on the road to make it look like a sun, as a protest against coal power plants. The nearest metro station is Brandenburger Tor Tiergarten.
