This article summarizes the birds confirmed to occur in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. As of 2021, the Bird Records Committee of Nature NL lists 427 species for the province, with 20 more added from Bird Checklists of the World. Among the 427 species, 114 are considered rare, 71 very rare, and 27 rare or accidental sightings. Two species have been introduced to North America. One species is possibly extinct, and two species once found in Labrador are extinct and not on the current list. The list follows the taxonomic order of the American Ornithological Society’s Check-list (7th edition through the 62nd Supplement). Names follow the Check-list, with Canadian English spellings and family names from the Clements taxonomy.

This list groups birds by order and family and explains the typical features of each group. The full list covers a wide range of birds, from waterfowl to seabirds to songbirds, including familiar groups like ducks and geese, grebes, pigeons and doves, shorebirds, gulls and terns, loons, albatrosses and petrels, cormorants and pelicans, herons and ibises, vultures and hawks, owls, kingfishers, woodpeckers, and many kinds of perching birds.

Major groups you’ll find included:
- Waterfowl (ducks, geese, swans): aquatic birds with webbed feet and broad bills.
- Grebes and loons: diving birds adapted to water, with strong swimming skills.
- Pigeons and doves: stout birds that feed on seeds and fruit.
- Shorebirds and waders: birds like oystercatchers, plovers, and sandpipers that probe mud for food.
