Grier Raggio is an American attorney and politician who ran as a Democrat for Texas’s 32nd congressional district in 2010. He was born in Elgin, Texas, and moved to Dallas after World War II. Both of his parents were lawyers, and his mother Louise was a national advocate for women’s equality. He is married to Lorraine Raggio, a Civil District Court Judge in Dallas County, and they have three children and two grandchildren.

Raggio attended Highland Park High School, where he was class president and an Eagle Scout. He studied at Harvard University, earned a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and also completed a J.D. at Boston College. He started several small businesses and a law firm in New York City before returning to Dallas to join his family’s law practice.

He announced his candidacy in June 2009, campaigning on accountability, ethics reform, and environmental goals. He supported reducing fossil fuel use by 50% before 2020. The race took place amid a national shift toward the Republican Party in Texas, and Raggio was defeated on November 2, 2010, by a wide margin.
