Grey Henson
Grey Henson (born July 2, 1990) is an American actor, dancer, and singer best known for his work on Broadway. He grew up in Macon, Georgia, performing at local theatres and dance groups. He is a 2008 YoungArts alumnus and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting/Musical Theatre from Carnegie Mellon University in 2012, where he appeared in productions such as Assassins and Sweeney Todd.
Henson’s big break came with The Book of Mormon, joining the national touring company as Elder McKinley in 2012 and moving to Broadway in 2014, a role he held until 2016.
In 2017, he originated the role of Damian Hubbard in Mean Girls on Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination in 2018 for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He also won two Broadway.com Audience Awards in 2018 for Favorite Featured Actor and for Favorite Onstage Pair with Barrett Wilbert Weed. He left Mean Girls in 2020.
On television, Henson has appeared in Suburgatory (2013) and Girls5eva (2022), and he had an uncredited appearance on Saturday Night Live in 2018.
In theatre after Mean Girls, he performed in Shucked as Storyteller 2 (2023–2024) and returned to Broadway as Buddy in Elf (2024–2025). He also starred in Tick, Tick...BOOM! at the Kennedy Center and performed in Follies at Carnegie Hall in 2024, with subsequent Broadway appearances planned for Elf and other projects, including Hello, Dolly! at Carnegie Hall (2025) and Bigfoot! The Musical (2025).
Henson is openly gay.
