Grey Ferris
Grey Flowers Ferris (May 31, 1946 – June 13, 2008) was an American lawyer, farmer, and Democratic politician from Mississippi. He served in the Mississippi State Senate from January 7, 1992, to January 4, 2000, representing the 24th district (1992–1993) and then the 23rd district (1993–2000). Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Ferris earned a BA and JD from Tulane University, where he was student government president as an undergraduate, and he later chaired the Senate Education Committee. He ran for lieutenant governor in 1999 but lost in the Democratic primary to Amy Tuck. In 2009, Governor Haley Barbour signed a law naming the Mississippi Board of Education's meeting room in Jackson after Ferris. He married artist Jann Terral on June 6, 1970, in New Orleans; he was the brother of William R. Ferris. Ferris died in Vicksburg, Mississippi, at age 62.
