Greensheet is a local community newspaper based in Houston with offices in Houston and Dallas. It was founded in March 1970 by Helen Gordon in a small office after moving from Pittsburgh. Today, Greensheet has 19 print editions in Texas—12 in Houston and seven in Dallas and Fort Worth—and also offers a free online classifieds marketplace for buyers and sellers.

The paper expanded over the years, opening a Dallas office in May 1977 and an Austin office in March 1978. The headquarters moved to 2601 Main Street in 1984. In 1998 Greensheet built its own press facility to print in-house, later bringing presses from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A Goss press was added in June 2005, and on December 28, 2005 Greensheet began printing Houston editions of The New York Times, its largest offset print client at the time. The company was sold to McElvy Media in August 2018.

Helen Gordon semi-retired in 1994 and fully retired in 1995, leaving her daughter Kathy Douglass in charge. Douglass has been recognized as a top woman-owned business leader by the Houston Business Journal.

Greensheet publishes print and online classified and business ads for local buyers, sellers and businesses. Popular categories include employment, real estate, pets and automotive, with others like education, food and fun, and home improvement services. Distribution exceeds 800,000 copies. The company also handles commercial and offset printing, using Goss and Harris presses, and even prints business cards.

The Greensheet Education Foundation promotes literacy for K-12 students in Texas. The company also participates in community events such as Houston’s Earth Day celebrations and occasionally publishes papers about the environment, volunteering, healthy habits and personal finance.
