Granite School District
Granite School District is a public school district in central Salt Lake County, Utah. It serves West Valley City, Millcreek, Taylorsville, South Salt Lake, Holladay, Kearns, Magna, and parts of West Jordan, Murray, and Cottonwood Heights. About 67,000 students from kindergarten through 12th grade attend its schools. The district operates 9 high schools, 15 junior high schools, 62 elementary schools, and several specialty schools. Granite is the third largest district in Utah, after Alpine School District and Davis County School District. Nearby districts include Salt Lake City School District and Murray School District. The district was created in 1904 with 4,258 students. Its name comes from the Granite Stake of the LDS Church, which once covered a large part of the Salt Lake Valley.
