Ana Pérez-Neira
Ana Isabel Pérez-Neira (born 1967 in Zaragoza) is a Spanish telecommunications engineer and professor at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). She works in the Signal Theory and Communication Department and has served as vice rector for research (2010–2014). Since 2021 she is the director of the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) and she coordinates the European Space Agency Networks of Excellence on Satellite Communications. Her research covers multibeam satellite communications, beamforming, and the signal processing used in these systems.
She studied electrical engineering, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1989 and a master’s degree in 1991 at Universidad Ramon Llull. She earned her PhD in 1995 at UPC, working with Miguel Àngel Lagunas Hernández. She became a full professor at UPC in 2006. In 2020 she was named an IEEE Fellow for contributions to signal processing for satellite communications and systems. She became a full member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona in 2021, and in 2022 she was named an EURASIP Fellow for her contributions to signal processing for satellite and wireless communication systems.
