Grampian Police Pipe Band
Grampian Police Scotland Pipe Band is a Grade 2 bagpipe band from northeast Scotland, linked to Grampian Police. It’s open to both civilians and police members.
The band began in 1907 as Aberdeen City Police Pipe Band, wearing the Hunting Gordon tartan. In 1965 they changed to the Black Stewart tartan. After the police forces merged to form Grampian Police, the band kept its current name. They were Grade 1 from 1995, moved back to Grade 2 in 2005, and returned to Grade 1 in 2012 with a new pipe major and drum sergeant. They finished 16th at the 2012 World Pipe Band Championships. After a six-year hiatus, the band reformed in October 2024 under Pipe Major Julie Brinklow and Leading Drummer Lucy Maclean. They play at highland games, RSPBA competitions, and police and community events. In 1990 they played for the Queen Mother for her 90th birthday.
