Gobindashi Union
Gobindashi Union is a local administrative area in Bhuapur Upazila, Tangail District, Bangladesh. It is about 35 km north of Tangail town and sits on the bank of the Jamuna River. The union covers 17.6 square kilometers and is about 19 meters above sea level.
As of the 2011 census, Gobindashi Union had 8,109 households and a population of 33,439. The literacy rate for people aged 7 and older was 46.4% (men 49.3%, women 43.6%). The main livelihoods are farming, trading, and government jobs.
There are several primary and high schools and kindergartens in the area. A well-known feature is the Gobindashi Cattle Market, a large local trading spot for livestock.
Governance is led by Chairman Dulal Hossain Chakder of the Bangladesh Awami League. The union was established in 1984.
Climate is tropical (Aw): warm with most rainfall in the summer. The average temperature is about 25.5°C. To the west, the Jamuna River can be more than 7 km wide during the rainy season.
