Gitte Tamar
Gitte Tamar, also known as Brigitte Tamar, was born Bridget Wilmes in Oregon, USA. She is an American horror fiction novelist and actress. She attended Jesuit High School in Portland, then studied at Texas Christian University until 2015 when she won Miss Oregon USA. After Miss USA, she studied at Southern New Hampshire University and earned a degree in business. She later earned a Master of Arts in Studies of Law from the University of Southern California, with certificates in business law, entertainment law, and industries.
As a writer, Tamar published Shadows That Speak in 2021, the first book in a gothic horror trilogy. Her 2022 novels include Run, Run, Baby (a psychological thriller), Ten-Cent Man, A Shadow, and Ghoulish Tales for the Brave (a horror poetry book). The trilogy continued with Shadows That Tempt in April 2022 and Shadows That Play in September 2022. She released Squeal, a horror thriller, in December 2022. In July 2023 she published Hel, which Mystery Tribune named among the best crime and mystery books to watch, and it reached No. 1 on Amazon in Classic Horror.
Her work has been reviewed by critics and production companies like BroadwayWorld, and it often explores social issues such as peer pressure, homelessness, addiction, childhood trauma, and abuse.
In 2015 she appeared on the Miss USA TV program as Miss Oregon. In 2022 her novel Wastoid, about addiction, was adapted into a short film, marking her directorial debut. The film appeared in festivals, including the Los Angeles Shorts International Festival, and won an Award of Merit from One-Reeler. She has also worked on other films and TV shows.
