Giovanni Battista Barca
Giovanni Battista Barca (1594–1650) was an Italian Baroque painter. He was born in Mantua and later became a citizen of Verona; he is believed to have studied with Domenico Fetti. Barca produced several church commissions, including: Pietà for San Fermo Maggiore; Virgin for the Carli altar in San Nicolò; Saints John the Baptist, Andrew, Mary Magdalene, and Jerome, and two Martyrdoms of Saints Crispino and Crispiniano for Santa Maria della Scala; Visitation of the Virgin for the main chapel of the church of Vittoria; Saint John the Evangelist for the church of San Giovanni della Beverara; Martyrdom of St Paul Miki and companions; and Madonna with Saints Francis and John the Baptist for San Bernardino.
