Gidgegannup is a small township in Western Australia, about 40 kilometres northeast of Perth. It sits in the City of Swan and has the postcode 6083. The name comes from a Noongar word meaning “Place where spears are made,” first recorded by surveyors in 1852. The town is located on Toodyay Road and is drained by the north-flowing Wooroloo and Gidgegannup Brooks. Much of the area keeps its natural vegetation, and several roads north of Toodyay Road (O’Brien, Clenton, Berry, and Reen Roads) form part of the Wildflower Scenic Drive.

The Gidgegannup Agricultural Society has held more than 60 shows at the showgrounds. In 2016 the population was 2,743, and around 2,818 people were counted in 2021. About 72% of residents were born in Australia, with England the next most common birthplace at about 10%. The main religious affiliations are No Religion (about 38%), Anglican (about 20%), and Catholic (about 16%). The area includes several notable localities and retains a strong rural character.
