Gibson (dog)

Gibson (April 26, 2002 – August 7, 2009) was a Harlequin Great Dane from Grass Valley, California, United States. He became famous for being the World's Tallest Dog, a title awarded by Guinness World Records in 2004 after he grew taller than the previous record holder.

Official measurements put Gibson at 42.2 inches (107.2 cm) tall at the shoulder and about 180 pounds (82 kg). His owner, Sandy Hall, has said Gibson was 42.6 inches tall, but Guinness lists him at 42.2 inches.

Gibson was a certified therapy dog and often wore a bandanna. He appeared on several TV shows, including The Tonight Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He also served as the official spokesdog for ForeverLawn’s K9Grass.

In 2009, Gibson lost one of his legs to bone cancer. Despite chemotherapy, the cancer spread to his lungs and spine, and he was euthanized on August 7, 2009, at age 7.

Gibson is remembered as the World’s Tallest Dog and a beloved therapy dog.
