Gerd Thoreid
Gerd Miriam Thoreid, better known as GT-Sara, was a Norwegian singer and stand-up comedian. Born on 17 September 1924 near Hamar, she became Norway’s oldest stand-up comedian and was loved for her warmth, laughter, and guitar. She also told jokes, sometimes coarse, but always kept her faith in God.
She first appeared on television in 1975. In 2007, at age 83, she released her debut album, GT-Sara på farten med Full Rulle, making her the oldest performer in Norway to launch an album. She continued to perform with energy, including an annual concert at the Lillestrøm festival, and she appeared on TV2 at an old people’s centre in September 2020.
Gerd Thoreid was married twice. Her first husband was Eilert Anton Pedersen (died 1956), with whom she had a daughter named Ann-Karin. Her second husband was Hans Jacob Thoreid (1932–2009).
She passed away on 14 November 2020 in Kongsvinger after a fall, at the age of 96.
