Geothermal power in El Salvador accounts for about 25% of the country’s electricity. El Salvador is among the world’s top ten geothermal energy producers. The Ahuachapán geothermal field has been in continuous commercial operation since 1975. The Berlin geothermal field began producing electricity in 1992, with two 5 MW plants.
