Georgia State Route 270
Georgia State Route 270 is a 12.7-mile east–west highway in southern Georgia, running through Mitchell and Colquitt counties. It begins at SR 93 in Sale City (west end) and ends at SR 33 east of Doerun (east end). The route is not part of the National Highway System.
From Sale City, SR 270 heads northeast, then curves north-northeast, crosses into Colquitt County, and turns east along Greenough Road. It passes near Barrens Golf Course and intersects Thigpen Trail, which leads to nearby communities. In Doerun, SR 270 briefly runs together with SR 133 along Broad Avenue. The road crosses a Norfolk Southern Railway line at Peachtree Street and continues east to cross the Ochlockonee and Little Ochlockonee rivers, ending at SR 33 in northwestern Colquitt County. After SR 33, the road continues as Bob Sims Road into Worth County.
SR 270 was established in 1950 on its current path, with the western end moved to Sale City by 1957; the entire route was paved by 1957 (the section from Doerun to the eastern end was paved by 1953).
SR 270 Spur is a 0.7-mile spur entirely in Doerun. It starts at SR 270 in Doerun, goes east along Bay Avenue (which becomes Bay Street), crosses the same Norfolk Southern railway, and ends at SR 133 in southeast Doerun. This spur is also not part of the National Highway System.
