The Genome News Network (GNN) is an online magazine about genomics and medicine. It started in 1999, with Barbara Culliton as founding editor-in-chief. It was first published by Celera Genomics, and in 2001 the Institute for Genomic Research became its publisher. A 2001 article in Lancet Oncology praised GNN for offering news, original articles, an online reference called What’s a Genome?, and primers on sequencing and assembling genomes, all well written and illustrated. By 2010, new issues were released every two weeks.
