Gennady Krasnikov
Gennady Yakovlevich Krasnikov (born 30 April 1958) is a Russian scientist who works in semiconductor physics. He has been the president of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2020. He was born in Tambov, Russia, and graduated with honors from the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology in 1981.
From 1981 he worked as an engineer at the Research Institute of Molecular Electronics and at the Mikron plant, and later became the General Director of JSC NIIME and Mikron, a position he held from 1991 to 2016. In September 2017 he ran for president of the Russian Academy of Sciences and was approved under the government rules. He heads the Priority Technological Area for Electronic Technologies in Russia and serves on the Advisory Scientific Council of the Skolkovo Innovation Center. On 12 December 2022 he became a member of the government’s expert council. On 15 January 2024, by decree of President Vladimir Putin, he was added to the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
Krasnikov has received several awards, including in 1999, 2009, 2014 and 2019.
