By-elections to the 8th Canadian Parliament
By-elections to the 8th Canadian Parliament were held to fill seats in the House of Commons between the 1896 and 1900 federal elections. The Liberal Party led a majority government in the 8th Parliament. The list also includes ministerial by-elections, which occurred when Members of Parliament appointed to the Cabinet had to recontest their seats. These by-elections were almost always uncontested. The requirement for MPs to recontest their seats after being appointed to the Cabinet was abolished in 1931.
