Gemer (region)
Gemer is a historic region in southern Slovakia, in Central Europe. It covers the area that used to be the Gömör and Kishont County in the Kingdom of Hungary, until the 20th century. Today, Gemer is one of Slovakia’s tourism regions. Its borders run through the districts of Rimavská Sobota, Revúca and Rožňava. It borders Novohrad to the west, Horehronie, the High Tatras and Spiš to the north, Abov to the east, and Hungary to the south. The region lies near 48.4°N, 20.3°E.
