List of Assistant Secretaries of the Treasury

Assistant Secretary of the Treasury was a senior official position in the U.S. Department of the Treasury from 1849 to 1961. In 1961 the post was replaced by the United States Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, one of several roles under the Treasury Secretary. The office was created by the Act of March 3, 1849. Additional assistants were added by the Acts of March 14, 1864; July 11, 1890; October 6, 1917 (two more during World War I and for six months after); and July 22, 1954.
