Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium
Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GBLA) is a football stadium in the Gedebage area of Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. It is the home ground of Persib Bandung and can seat about 38,000 fans. The pitch uses FIFA-standard grass (Zoysia matrella), and the venue also includes an athletics track, offices, a large video screen, and fireproof seating. The stadium covers about 72,000 square meters inside a 40-hectare site and has features such as 766 toilets, a VIP box with bulletproof glass, and a helicopter pad.
Construction began in October 2009 and the stadium opened in March 2013, with a construction cost of around Rp545 billion. It was designed by Penta Architecture. The owner is the Bandung City Government, and Persib Bandung operates it through their sister company PT Persib Gelora Sawarga. Persib Bandung has used it as their home ground in 2016–2018 and again from 2022 to present.
Funding and ownership changes followed an initial plan that involved the West Java provincial government contributing 60% and owning the stadium. In December 2009, the arrangement shifted so the city government funded and owned the stadium, with the provincial government providing financial aid for three years.
The stadium’s name, Gelora Bandung Lautan Api, translates to “Bandung Sea of Fire Stadium,” reflecting both Bandung’s history and the city’s fighting spirit.
