Fuecoco is a Fire-type Pokémon and one of the three starter Pokémon you can choose at the start of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (2022). It is a small red crocodile and is known in Japan as Hogator.

Fuecoco evolves into Crocalor and then Skeledirge, with Skeledirge gaining the Ghost typing in its final form. It is one of the three starters in Scarlet and Violet, alongside Sprigatito and Quaxly.

The Pokémon appears in other games such as Pokémon Go and the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and it’s also sold as merchandise. In the anime, Roy catches a Fuecoco in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. In English, Fuecoco is voiced by Zeno Robinson, and in Japanese by Daiki Yamashita.

Fuecoco has been well received for its cute, goofy design and big smile. It’s often praised in polls and by fans as a favorite starter from Scarlet and Violet.

Some players also note Fuecoco’s strength in gameplay, and its popularity has led to discussions about its role in challenging playthroughs like Nuzlocke runs.
