Elena Zuasti (May 18, 1935 – April 8, 2011) was a Uruguayan stage actress and comedian. Born in Montevideo, she finished drama school around 1955 and joined the National Comedy, where she worked until 1976. She taught acting for many years while performing on stage, on radio, television, and in films. She worked with the Faustan Italia Theater Company (Compañía Teatral Italia Fausta) and with Comediantes.com, part of the Uruguay-US Alliance. Zuasti was one of the first actors on Uruguayan radio and helped introduce this medium. She adapted many European plays, including works by Samuel Beckett. Her screen and TV credits include El año del dragón, A cara o cruz, and La espera (2002). She died on April 8, 2011, probably from a heart attack, while performing as Martiniana in the play Barranca abajo (Downhill). She is buried at Cementerio del Buceo, Montevideo.
