Florence Township is one of Williams County, Ohio’s twelve townships. As of the 2020 census, 1,973 people live there. It sits in the western part of the county along the Indiana border. The township includes the villages of Blakeslee (southeast) and Edon (west) and the unincorporated community of Berlin in the northwest. Florence Township was organized in 1837. The area covers about 43 square miles, all land. The local government is a three-member board of trustees, elected to four-year terms in November of odd-numbered years (two trustees are elected after presidential elections and one before). There is also an elected township fiscal officer with a four-year term beginning April 1 after the election held in November before a presidential election. Vacancies are filled by the remaining trustees.
