Flag officers of the Kriegsmarine were the top leaders of Germany’s navy from 1935 to 1945. Many had previously served in the Reichsmarine and in the Imperial German Navy during World War I. Flag officers were grouped into five admiralty ranks, and there was also a senior captain rank called Kommodore. They held the highest positions in the Kriegsmarine.
