Fabrizio Boschi
Fabrizio Boschi (1572–1642) was a Italian early-Baroque painter active in Florence. Likely a pupil of Domenico Passignano, he was asked in 1615 by Michelangelo Buonarroti the Younger to paint a scene for the Casa Buonarroti: Michelangelo presenting the wooden model of the Tribunal of the Wheel in Via Giulia, Rome, to Pope Julius III, on the wall of the Gallery. His life and work are recorded by Filippo Baldinucci, who noted Boschi’s fiery temper and persistent imagination. Boschi painted several religious works, including St. Bonaventure celebrating Mass for the church of Ognissanti in Florence; the Martyrdom of Saints Peter and Paul for the Certosa di Galuzzo; and an Assumption of the Virgin surrounded by angels, with the Apostles below, for the Dominican convent church of Santa Lucia dè Magnoli.
