Eva Lang (actress)
Eva Lang (September 11, 1884 – April 7, 1933) was an American actress known for stage work and early silent films. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. Her mother, Minnie B. Lang, was a physician, and her sister Marie Gertrude Pearce acted as Marie Hudson.
Lang was a leading lady in stock companies and is believed to be one of the first American actresses to perform Peter Pan on stage in 1910. By 1917 she was described as the most popular stock actress in Omaha. In Kansas City during the 1900s, many young women imitated her famous gestures and walk. Her stage costumes were often featured in magazines, and she toured internationally in 1917 with Daniel Frawley’s repertoire company.
She appeared in several silent films, including A Desperate Tenderfoot (1920), A Western Feud (1921), The Golden Lure (1921), and The Outlaw’s Revenge (1921), all directed by Otis B. Thayer. In 1930 she briefly retired, then returned to perform in Her Friend, the King in Kansas City.
Lang was married to actor John Halliday from 1917 until their divorce in 1928. She died in Los Angeles in 1933 at the age of 48.
