Emanuel Sueyro
Emanuel Sueyro (February 20, 1587 – 1629) was a Portuguese-descent historian and intelligence agent in the 17th-century Habsburg Netherlands. Born and raised in Antwerp, he translated Latin histories into Spanish and wrote Anales de Flandes (1624), a two-part history of the Low Countries. He headed a secret intelligence network that reported to King Philip III of Spain. For this work he was knighted in the Order of Christ. He became Lord of Voorde by purchase and died in Brussels in 1629, aged about 41 or 42.
