Elfriede Trötschel (11 December 1913 – 20 June 1958) was a German opera singer (soprano) with a wide repertoire. She trained in Dresden with Sophie Kuhnau-Bernard and Paul Schoffler. The conductor Karl Böhm discovered her, and she made her stage debut at the Dresden Opera in 1933 at age 20, singing there until 1950. She then appeared at the Berlin State Opera and the Vienna State Opera from 1951, and she sang as a guest in Florence, Naples, and Lisbon, as well as at Glyndebourne (Susanna, 1953) and the Royal Opera House in London (Zdenka, 1954). Her roles included Agathe, Marenka, Antonia, the title role in Rusalka, Violetta, Cio-Cio-San, and Hanna, and she was also a noted recitalist. She died of cancer in Berlin at age 44.
