Edward Geoghegan
Edward Geoghegan (1813 – 11 January 1869) was an Irish‑Australian writer and town clerk. Born in Dublin, he studied medicine but was transported to Australia as a convict in 1840. He wrote several plays, including The Hibernian Father, the first Australian‑written play to be performed professionally in Sydney. Geoghegan died in 1869.
