Edris A Jin
Edris A Jin is a cross and circle board game played by the Druze of Syria and Lebanon. It is similar to Pachisi. The name means “game of the Jinn” and is linked to the prophet Idris (Enoch). The game is played on a cloth board shaped like an octagon, with four arms each having four rows of eight squares, connected at the ends by a diagonal row of eight squares. The center area of 16 squares is called the serai. Each player uses three cowrie shells as pieces: one is the chief and the other two are soldiers. Four additional cowries are used to determine movement, though how that works is not described.
