The ECAC Northeast tournament was the hockey championship for the ECAC Northeast conference. It ran from 1972 to 2016 and used a single-elimination format. The tournament evolved as the conference grew and reorganized:

- 1972: began as a single-game championship between the top two teams.
- 1975: expanded to four teams, with one host chosen.
- 1977: host-based games were dropped; higher-seeded teams hosted the games.
- 1984: field expanded to eight teams.
- 1986: the conference split into North and South divisions, each holding a six-team postseason; the two divisional champions met to decide the conference champion.
- 1992–93: three divisions; the divisional tournament was replaced with a single eight-team bracket seeded by overall conference records (top seeds from the divisions followed by the next best records).
- 1998: divisional alignments were abandoned, but the tournament format remained the same.
- 1999: Division II teams played in a separate tournament; the remaining 14 teams competed for the ECAC Northeast championship, with the champion earning an automatic bid to the national tournament.

The tournament ran from 1972 through 2016.
